  5. We're just one month into Spring, and things have been hectic here in
  6. North America.  Floods have replaced the droughts that plagued much
  7. of the West Coast for the past few years.  The leaders of the World's
  8. two largest democracies met in Vancouver to discuss the fact that
  9. both of their countries are broke.
  10.  
  11. In Los Angeles, military patrols were required to shore up the
  12. people's faith in the criminal justice system, and to forcibly remove
  13. certain winners from the podium at the Academy Awards when their
  14. acceptance speeches exceeded the time limit.  Meanwhile in Texas,
  15. David Koresh gave new meaning to the phrase "Fire and Brimstone
  16. Preacher."

  18. Renown magician David Copperfield travelled to Washington to perform
  19. his greatest illusion.  He was asked to make the American public
  20. believe that Clinton had really promised them a Middle Class Tax
  21. Hike.  On a related note, sore loser Ross Perot offered Penn and
  22. Teller a million dollars to make the White House vanish permanently,
  23. with Bill and Hillary inside.

  25. During a routine physical examination, it was discovered that Vice
  26. President Al Gore is a Dutch Elm Tree.  This may explain both his
  27. attitudes on forest conservation, and the Agriculture Department's
  28. sudden research emphasis on a cure for Dutch Elm Disease.       {RAH}
